It is already shown that fasting has antiinflammatory, antitumor and antiageing effects, but the mechanisms responsible for these are still unclear. An increased oxidative stress is one of the common traits for inflammation, carcinogenesis and ageing, so it is a reasonable assumption to consider that fasting might act through influencing the oxidative status. In the present study we used three different respiratory burst activators (opsonized zymosan-OZ, phytohemagglutinin P-PHA, concanavalin A-Con A) in order to test whether fasting is able or not to change the free radical generation and associated chemiluminescence produced by polymorphonuclear leukocytes (PMNLs) of seven healthy human subjects. Fasting has induced a "spontaneous respiratory burst" of resting polymorphonuclear leukocytes, increasing the basal chemiluminescence of these cells and it has decreased the stimulatory index of leukocytes. In conclusion, fasting has a dual effect on the free radical generation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes.

Investigacion sobre la influencia del tratamiento oral con sulfato de zinc sobre la inmunidad humoral, mediante la valoracion de los niveles sericos de inmunoglobulinas (Ig) y los niveles plasmaticos de zinc, en 12 pacientes con uma media de edad de 70 anos, en comparacion con otros 11 pacientes tratadis con placebo y con un grupo control de 50 personas aparentemente sanas. Los resultados de este estudio a doble ciego demustran el efecto del zinc sobre la inmunorregulacion, ya que los niveles de Ig y especialmente de IgG fueron estadisticamente mas bajos. Age de 61 ans, un homme est traite por un syndrome cyclothymique au Lithium carbonicum, en doses de 900mg/jour (3x300mg), depuis vingt ans. A la consultation, le malade presente des troubles respiratoires, des modifications du trajet EEG, des changements des epreuves fonctionnelles respiratoires et renales, une alteration de la fonction hematopoietique, du ionogramme sanguin et des images echographiques renales. Ce tableau clinique et paraclinique a ete attribue au traitement prolonge par le Lithium. Apres la reduction graduelle du traitement par le Lithium, jusqu'a la suppression et l'introduction concomitante du traitement homeopathique, l'evolution clinique et paraclinique a ete satisfaisante. Les resultats obtenus ont confirme l'incrimination du Lithium dans le tableau clinique general

The occupational pathogenesis of chlorine in exposed workers are described and compared with the classic pathogenesis. The exposed group consisted of 82 men with occupational exposure to chlorine.The control group consisted of 46 men who were not exposed, all of them works in the same cellulose processing factory. The exposed group had the symptoms of theclassical pathogenesis to a highly significant degree (p<0,0001) compared to the unexposed control group. We found a number of symptoms signs, disorders and syndromes which are not described in the classical pathogenesis, including: diminished tolerance to alcohol, back pain, pains in the joints dependent on weather conditions, dependent oedema, diminished taste sensitivity, persistent chronic hepatitis, hepatic steatofibrosis, chronic obstructive airways disease, polycythaemia with haemosiderosis and chronic conjunctivitis. The intensity of symptoms and signs was in direct proportion to the duration of exposure to chlorine
